The bugs around here are relentless. We live in a private lake subdivision, a rural area and I have been chased by swarms of mosquitoes. But the best one was riding on the back of the motorcycle and a hornet collided with me, got me in the head, migrated to my neck, got me there too. I have tried just about every product out there to keep the pests down to a dull roar, we love to be outside and wont let the bugs keep us in.... Shelley Kozloski, Alger, MI |
I was walking in the woods with my two year old he had discovered a bug. He thought it was so cool until it landed on his arm and bite him. He looked at my and said, "mommy, bad buggie bite me" while he was swatting at the bug. It was so cute.

It was close to my birthday, pretty early in July and I was outside with several of my friends. We were sprawled out on the patio, smothered in tanning oil. Our crazy bug bite story was funny. We were camping up in the 1000 islands and my daughter was bit by a mosquito and thought it was the largest bug on earth. She swears it was the biggest bug you have ever seen. After she was bit she was running towards the water to get away from the bug that just bit her. Even though the bug bit her and she had to swat it off, the running around looked so funny. Of course the bug was gone, but she still thought it was after her for life, so all day and night we had to endure the biggest bug was still after her, so needless to say it was a long night. My daughter Isabelle, who just turned 7, doens't get bug bites - she gets bug welts. Even bug spray doesn't seem to keep the bugs away from her sweet smell. Isabelle ends up with mosquito bites that enlarge to the size of a nickel or a quarter. We are looking forward to trying the patch to see if it can fend off the bugs. Kelli Eimer, Freeburg, IL |

Mosquitoes love my daughter, Lillian. Every summer she gets eaten alive. Her bug bites turn hard and red and swell to the size of a quarter. She then spends the rest of the summer with sores and screams and cries when you try to spray her with bug spray. Alicia McGraw, Dubuque, IA |

Being super allergic to mosquito bites, I tend to be really careful about exposing my skin to the elements. I remember one day, though, I fell asleep at the beach and woke to hear a buzzing sound in my ear. I jumped up, covered my ears and jumped into the ocean. My husband went to turn on the lights in his classroom one day when arriving for school. They flickered, then there was a little burst of smoke. I was living in San Antonio, TX (I'm from Colorado). I'm used to going barefoot as much as I can. I didn't know anything about such a thing as Fire Ants. To make a long story short - I wandered into a nest of Fire Ants and got bit several times on my feet, legs and in between my toes. OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! My 4 Yr old went to a family BBQ with us one day and at the BBQ, he was bitten by a mosquito on his butt. He'd itched at it for a while, which was sort of embarrassing. When I guess the urge to itch became too strong, he stripped off his pants and undies and ran around the campgrounds yelling "Help! My butt is itching!" Everyone was dying with laughter. On my honeymoon, my husband and I took the road to Hanna. When we got back to the hotel had "50" bug bites and my husband only had 10. There were 20 on each leg and 10 on each arm. It was crazy. The mosquitoes LOVE me. Needless to say we stayed in the next day. Edite Birnbaum, Cherry Hill, NJ Don't Bite Me! Patch is easy to pack in your luggage. Lightweight, can't spill or leak on your clothes and individually wrapped for safety. |

I was hiking in the woods with a friend and her 8 year old son. We didn't bring any bug spray with us. For some reason we thought that the mosquitoes wouldn't be that bad in the middle of June. Halfway through our walk I was getting chewed up by mosquitoes. "Her son says to me 'What mosquitos they are not even bothering me'." After we finally got out of the woods my friend looked at my back and I had at least 100 mosquito bites on my back. They were huge and swollen. The most craziest story that I've had was probably 5 years ago, when we were watering flowers in our yard with my 3 year old daughter. She had stuck a water hose in one of the evergreen bushes, not knowing that there was a huge wasp nest. The bees attacked us and they were all over us, they even followed us to the garage. Both of us were screaming, my husband ran over and tried to help us. He had to with his hand remove them from our bodies. My daughter got stung ten times, in a face and head and arms, and I got about twelve times, in a face, neck and arms. The craziest bug bite story I have would have to be camping at girl scout camp. We pitched our tent on top of an ant hill and woke up in the middle of the night covered in ants!
